THE TEXTURE OF INNOCENCE

Based on the three act play. which played to SRO audiences when produced in Los Angeles.  It is the story of CHIPS PALMER, a bi-sexual wannabe Janis Joplin.  Believing herself to be  just as good a singer as Janis, but better looking, she leaves her truck driver husband to make her mark in San Francisco during the Summer of Love.  She moves into a Haight Ashbury commune, replete with the stereotypes of her era.  The young USC student,  CULLY WADE, slumming for the summer who becomes her lover. The  beautiful heiress who owns the house they all live in.  She becomes Chips' lover (free rent). The would be Yale educated revolutionary, there in San Francisco to start the world revolution, unfortuantely the day the revolution was to start he got a pimple, which fatally delayed his plans. The young band promoter, who wants to be the next Bill Graham, but until then sells mescalin and LSD. Another of Chips' lovers( he has a band). J.C., the homosexual who saw God on a mescalin trip, and now reveals he is God's son. JOHN WAYNE, the cowboy/movie actor/draft dodger and MONTAG the corrupt policeman.

They met, sing, laugh, make love, do drugs, kill themselves, kill others, survive.  Remarkably though the names have been changed, the characters are based on real people, who lived and died at the beginning of the AGE OF AQUARIUS.
